We are the only company manufacturing blow molding, injection molding and large-scale thermoforming products dedicated to the nursery industry.
Objective:
The Maintenance Planner is a leadership role and key component of a high-performance work system contributing to a continuous improvement culture.
They are responsible for Improving OEE and eliminating maintenance/changeover losses by continuously improving maintenance systems, leading a blame-free weekly critique process and building technical skills in operations.
Reporting Relationships:
The Maintenance Planner reports to the Operations Leader with dotted line reporting to the Maintenance Department.
Ops and Maintenance lead contribute to Maintenance Planner 5 Rocks.
Key Factors:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for tracking and partnering with Maintenance Team Leader to continuously improve the following key factors:
#of Breakdowns / run hours.
Increasing Monthly % of Breakdowns with Failure Analysis-Root Cause completed.
Declining R&M (repair and maintenance) costs.
% Planned vs.
Unplanned Maintenance.
% PMs complete.
Defect Backlog prioritization and reduction.
% Critique of planned interventions (PM's, Defect Fixing Interventions, Changeovers).
System Ownership:
MAPCON and Poller System Owner for the Site.
Maintenance Planning and If-Down-Do.
R&M Monitoring and Rebuild System Owner.
Failure Analysis and follow-up.
BAVA (Balancing, Alignment, Vibration analysis).
Thermal Auditing.
Prepare Technical Component Training - Fasteners, Drives, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Electrical.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Able to read and write English.
Knowledge of Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) or Lean Manufacturing.
Must have excellent computer skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/technical school training preferred; on-the-job training provided.
Previous related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to operate mold machines and change molds.
Able to bend or kneel frequently.
Must be able to lift 50 - 60 pounds at a time.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIESDaily:
Attend the daily direction setting meeting for the plant.
Review and investigate MAPCON defect notifications daily.
Assess and update priority needs.
Prioritize all notifications and create work orders for all planned jobs.
Ensure all planned jobs > 15 minutes have a work order to help build equipment history and indicate that planning is complete.
Ensure all rebuilds are processed each week to include creation of Purchase orders, etc.
as required.
Work with Purchasing on tracking system to account for returns into inventory.
Assist with CIL skill development as requested by the Operations leaders.
Flex shifts as needed.
Be the subject matter expert for CILs - ensure that they are adequate to obtain the desired results.
Ensure SIMPTTWW is gathered or verified before starting each job:
safety, instructions, materials (parts), people, time, tools, when, where.
Coach risk predictions to be completed before all tasks.
Check on lockouts during planned maintenance.
Signify that jobs are planned by placing If-Down-Do holders online.
Drive maintenance efficiency Conduct a pre-planning meeting 24 hours before the intervention at the line.
Utilize headsets of needed to facilitate communication.
Ensure that leaders from the team doing the work are present.
As breakdowns occur, own updates to the CIL's if we identify a gap led to the failure.
Ensure Failure Analysis occurs on mechanical failures for breakdowns meeting your criteria.
Effort should be made to understand the root cause of the failure on ALL mechanical breakdowns.
Coach teams on how to execute lubrication CILs.
Ensure the lubrication storage area is maintained per the standard for your line.
Develop lubrication standards and roll these out to the site.
Weekly:
Schedule and lead weekly Maintenance meeting.
Attendees - Maintenance Team Leader, Ops Manager and Plant Manager (optional).
Forward view and critique of last week's activities.
Changeover Preparation - Ensure that appropriate change parts are prepared 24 hours in advance of the changeover, and that team roles and responsibilities are clear.
Coordinate, flow and support all tasks during the intervention (vs.
just doing a single job).
Complete and confirm work orders within 2 working days after the planned intervention (to build maintenance / repair history).
Conduct a post-intervention critique to continuously improve intervention planning and execution.
Monthly:
Track % Planned Maintenance and lead continuous improvement of this measure.
Develop OPLs to train teams on the root cause of failures.
Develop OPLs to explain CIL changes made to prevent recurrence of failures.
Quarterly/Annually:
Develop and execute annual Maintenance Improvement Action Plan (Check-Act-Plan-Do) Build vibration audit and thermal audit capability at the site.
Execute until others are capable.
Develop a baseline and signature for key pieces of equipment.
Analyze for exceptions.
Track Minor, Moderate and Major breakdowns monthly- lead / participate in Why-Why analyses to help determine root cause and countermeasure for failures.
Track M&R spending monthly and lead efforts to reduce M&R spending by developing skills on your team and executing the AM and PM methodologies.
Plan Holiday planned interventions.
