Summary:
Are you looking to take your Leadership career to the next level? We are seeking a true leader in this role to manage both production and sanitation staff as well as functions.
This person will supervise and coordinate the activities of employees, all phases of production operation and optimize staffing as needed.
Superintendent will ensure proper flow of materials and line assemblies.
This person will also align production supervisors and staff with plant production, staffing, training and continuous improvement goals.
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Manage daily department operations.
Assist and ensure that production, sanitation and other indirect departments meet established production, quality and sanitation goals and standards.
Conduct Daily Operations Review meetings.
Review various operations accomplishments and shortcomings to meet established production, quality, maintenance and sanitation goals.
Develop follow-up course of action to resolve any shortages or operational problems encountered by the departments.
Prepare and present weekly efficiency reports to management, report line improvements, issues and track financial improvements Conduct plant inspections.
Ensure departments remain operationally ready for scheduled and unscheduled audits by regulatory agencies or customer sponsored inspection groups.
Achieve no less than a superior rating on any plant audit from these inspection firms.
Work closely with Human Resources and Safety Director to establish strategies to improve plant safety and reduce accidents to corporate standards.
Enforce all safety policies through monthly safety meetings as well as verbal and written communication when necessary.
Facilitate safety committees as needed.
Involved in developing and initiating capital projects request, suggestions and implementation of procedures for new equipment and plant operations.
Such recommendations investigated to improve productively, cost control, safety and control variances.
Resolve personnel issues at the lowest level through applying experience and supervisor development.
Develop and conduct meetings with supervisors, lead staff and employees to discuss departmental problems, successes, GMP compliance and anything pertinent to their operations.
Assist in development and implementation of plant procedures along with modifications.
Establish training programs for both supervisors and staff.
Support supervisors during personal emergencies, vacations, and absences by maintaining production and quality standards during these absences.
Back-up to Production Manager and lead continuous improvement teams as required.
Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls Other duties as assigned Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience 10
years of experience in a Production environment a GMP related Industry - Food Industry is preferred Demonstrated Plant Operations Leadership career progression Technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies Ability to identify Continuous Improvement within the plant, and/or Lean Manufacturing Knowledge and Skills:
Superior planning and coordination skills are required Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook or equivalent programs Must have proven ability to communicate with all levels of employees to build teams, resolve problems and achieve effective results Able to train, educate and motivate supervisors Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s).
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.
May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
