Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to Inspect - Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Inspector. Your resume must demonstrate the ability to perform common tasks including performing inspections of equipment such as combat, tactical, and automotive; assisting shop personnel with inspection requirements; preparing inspection reports to include status of repair and deficiencies; operating test, measuring, and/or diagnostic equipment; and assisting with maintenance processes such as disassembly, repair, and overhaul in a bay/line operation; while working under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. The inspector performs his work on hard surfaces with equipment frequently overhead and where parts are in hard to reach places. This requires him to stand, stoop, bend, stretch, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Inspector frequently lifts and carries equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. For items of bulk or excessive weight, may require seeking assistance from additional personnel. Working Conditions:
Inspector frequently performs duties inside where it is drafty and noisy, fumes from vehicles are usually present, or stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. There are times when he must crawl under vehicles and inspect while on hard, usually damp surfaces. There is the possibility of needing to inspect while on a type of lift, raised platform, or on top of equipment. Inspector is occasionally called upon to work outside, sometimes in bad weather. During road tests inspector is subject to road hazards and testing course hazards. Dirt, dust, and grease are frequently present and care must be exercised around vehicle fluids, such as battery acids and hydraulic fluids, may cause burns or irritate the skin. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns and strains.
